What to Bring
Shoes or sandals that can get wet for rafting trip, sunscreen, pants, insect repellent, hiking boots/shoes, bathing suit, sunglasses, towel, Passport and onward ticket leaving Costa Rica (or Panama if you are ending the tour there) for border crossing.

Pacuare River

Day 1
Here’s what your Explorer package will look like:
Whitewater Rafting on the famous Pacuare River!
Early morning pickup in San Jose (or Arenal area) for a exciting whitewater rafting trip down Costa Rica’s most famous rafting river, Rio Pacuare! You wil start with a full breakfast at the rafting companys Exploration Center (about 3 hrs away). Your luggage is securely stored in a locked container. This is our most popular rafting trip and Costa Rica’s premier river for rafting. Later that evening you will check into your room at Banana Azul which is truly Puerto Viejos best kept.

Day 2
Gandoca Manzanillo Reserve Jungle Hike:
The Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge is the jewel of Costa Rica’s southern Caribbean spanning nearly 25,000 acres of jungle, marshland, lagoons, reefs, coves and coastline. This extensive 4 hour hike will submerse you into one of the most amazing ecological environments that Costa Rica has to offer! You will be surrounded by amazing animals and will see many species of plants and trees which are native to the area. After this hike you will need some time to relax; no better place to do this than back at the hotel and the Banana Azul Beach Club!

Day 3
Cahuita National park and lost waterfall:
Cahuita National Park is considered as one of the most beautiful protected areas in Costa Rica. It is also one of the oldest national parks of Costa Rica as it was founded in 1970 to protect the coral reef. Because of its white sand beaches, large number of coconut palms, turquoise sea and coral reef this is a spot you do not want to miss.
We will pick you up at your hotel and drive to Cahuita National Park; it is located about 20 minutes from Puerto Viejo. The tour will start at the Kelly Creek ranger station, this is the entrance closest to Cahuita town. From here our professional naturalist tour guide will use his sharp senses to spot animals. You will meet some new friends along the road such as white faced monkeys, sloths, snakes, raccoons and numerous other different types of species that you will be able to observe and learn about. After about half way of the hike (around 2.5 km), we will return to the entrance of the National park. After the Hiking in Cahuita, you will go to an amazing waterfall where you will be able to swim and take a light snack.

Day 4
Travel to Bocas del Toro
After picking you up at your hotel, we will travel by shared shuttle to the border with Panama, you will cross the Rio Sixaola, pass through immigration and then take another shuttle to Almirante where a small passenger boat will take us to Bocas Town on Isla Colon.
You will have the rest of the day to explore the town on your own.

Day 5
Full day tour (only on 2 night stay)
You will go on a tour to Cayo Zapatillo, where you can try out deep boarding, the new way to snorkel. The tour includes lunch and snorkeling equipment. After a full day on and in the water, you can enjoy the evening in Bocastown or at your lodge.

Day 6
Return to Puerto Viejo or San Jose
You have the option of a 6:00am or 12:00pm pick up from Bocas Marine Tours with drop off in Puerto Viejo, or choose a 8:00am pick up with drop off in Puerto Viejo or San Jose. Drop off in San Jose will include a layover in Puerto Viejo with lunch included. All shuttles are air conditioned and seat 10 to 12 persons comfortable.
Note: additional cost will apply for drop off in San Jose.
