How to Get to Manzanillo

There are multiple options for getting to Manzanillo. The best mode of transportation depends on your travel style, budget, and where you are coming from.

Coming from San Jose

If coming from San Jose, we suggest flying to Limon and taking a private shuttle down to Manzanillo, or taking a shuttle all the way to Manzanillo.

The flight to Limon leaves from the domestic terminal next to the main airport (Juan Santamaria International Airport) in San Jose. Once arriving in Limon, the private shuttle will pick you up and drive you about 1.5 hours down to Manzanillo.

If you opt to take a shuttle from San Jose to Manzanillo, the shuttle can pick you up at your hotel or from the airport in San Jose. The shuttles are comfortable and although there may be traffic, at least you can relax during the drive. This drive usually takes about 5 hours.

Coming from Panama

The Panama border is just south of Manzanillo. If coming from Bocas del Toro Panama, it is possible to arrange transportation which includes the boat, border crossing, and shuttle ride to Playa Manzanillo, Costa Rica.
